I live on this street in Sweden; Filipstadsbacken.

What is it about Filipstadsbacken that I find is interesting, you might ask.
Well, let me show you.

Filipstadsbacken is a street that covers the top of a small hill in the neighborhood of Larsboda.

The street is a loop and there are six housing blocks along the street. The street numbers start at 12 and go to 70. All the houses are on the even side of the street. This means that there are no residences on the odd side, which is in fact a small natural park.

The neighborhood was built as one of the first ABC projects in the Stockholm region at the end of the 1950’s. There are six different buildings on the hill, build in three stages. The first stage was completed about 1958 and covered Filipstadsbacken 12 to 26. The second stage was three buildings from 36 to 50. The final stage was two buildings covering 56 to 70 and completed about 1964.

The fact that this neighborhood was the result of an ABC project is significant. The neighborhood is old. And now what is under and beside the street needs repair.

All this construction on Filipstadsbacken is making the street very crowded for the local traffic.

So now the 184 bus that visits Filipstadsbacken can’t get around to all the stops on the hill, where many of the retirees get on the bus at one of the four stops that take them to Farsta Centrum.
